Tonight was my first prenatal yoga class and it was really good. I went in thinking it might be sort of similar to my pilates class but with less ab work but it was far from that.
We spent the first 15 minutes or so getting to know each other which was nice to visit with other pregnant women. I had the latest due date and the smallest belly and I have to say I was mildly jealous of one ladies baby bump because it looked perfect while I look chubby.
Our teacher let us know that it was going to be a lot of breathing, which is probably good for us to relax. After a few poses we moved onto kegels which I have to say I haven’t done a lot of since getting pregnant. She reiterated the importance of kegels and how it is going to help with delivery and recovery. I am all for helping those processes so I am going to try and remember to do my kegels more often.
We ended the class with breathing, it was nice to lay down on our mats with our pillows and just breath and relax. That was probably my favourite part of class because it was just so relaxing.
So in conclusion, even though it is nothing like pilates I definitely enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next 4 months of classes before Carlos arrives.
